National Pest Control Agencies (NPCA)

NPCA assists those involved in animal pest control in New Zealand.

Animal pests are a serious threat to our native flora and fauna and to our agriculture industry. We provide a forum for agencies and stakeholders to share their knowledge and experience in addressing the issue.

After recent issues this version of the site has been restored on a temporary basis to allow end users access to key content that includes possum monitoring accreditation detail, the best practice best practice publications and other resources commonly used by animal pest control practitioners.

The temporary restoration also provides more time for the transfer of NPCA products and services to a new entity under the umbrella of the Ministry of Primary Industries.

The 2018 monitoring course programme has been finalised with venues in Palmerston North (Awapuni) and Mosgiel (Invermay Research Centre). Both centres provide easy access to habitat for course field exercises. To register email participant names and contact details to [email protected].

Attention accredited monitors and agencies involved with possum population monitoring

Possum monitoring accreditation details have been updated to November 2018.

For information on renewals and for new accreditations contact Adrienne Rehioui - 07 3782606 - email [email protected]

This is to advise that as part of the transfer of services the NPCA's Management Committee has recently taken a decision to increase the renewal fees for monitoring accreditation.

They will be increased to $200 + GST for the two year term with immediate effect.

It should be noted firstly that the renewal fees have not been adjusted for many years and it is timely that it be reviewed as part of the initiative to transfer NPCA services and secondly that the importance of the monitoring accreditation scheme was very much reinforced during the associated discussions with control agencies and stakeholders.

The change is seen then as bringing the fees into line and there will also be associated contacts changes that will be available on www.npca.org.nz as well as in renewal notices.
